Cameron has been working in the social services field since 2010. He has experience from a variety of settings including developmental disability services, inpatient psychiatric care, foster care, school counseling, and outpatient counseling. He has worked with individuals of all ages and with diverse backgrounds. As a counselor, he is specialized in mental health, trauma recovery, play therapy, marriage and family therapy, and sex addiction recovery. He graduated from Brigham Young University-Idaho with a degree in social work and received his master’s degree in social work with a clinical mental health focus from the University of Utah.
As a counselor, Cameron embraces the philosophy that every person has the capability to change and improve their lives through developing further awareness and acceptance of the self- especially by recognizing inherent strengths. He uses a holistic approach to counseling that takes into consideration all aspects of the person and their environment that are relevant to their wellness and ability to thrive. His approach involves evidence-based models such as Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness, Motivational Interviewing, Emotion-Focused Therapy, Narrative Therapy, and Filial Therapy. Cameron is also trained in providing Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy (for more information on EMDR, visit the EMDR International Association website here).
