I believe that while our feelings and emotions are a normal part of the human experience, they can also sometimes leave us feeling stuck, and hold us back from living the life we want. My approach is based in compassion, as well as a genuine and deep desire to help empower and support my clients to foster positive change, relieve suffering and pursue whatever goals they might have for themselves. I believe that when we can learn to have compassion for ourselves and the struggles that make us human, we can begin to create a fulfilling life, even amidst our challenges.
I work with various ages of children and adults and specialize in working with teenagers and the parents of teenagers. The teen years can be a tough time for families. I am trained to help families navigate those tricky years, increase communication, and build a stronger bond.
I also believe that therapy can be fun! Many of my clients are surprised to find that therapy can be more than simply sitting and talking. If my clients are open, I enjoy incorporating art, music, games, and other creative methods to help them open up and explore their emotions and experiences. I have a particular passion for sand tray therapy, which allows clients to explore their world in a hands-on way.
I graduated with my Masters’s degree in Marriage, Couple, and Family Counseling from Northwest Nazarene University in 2022. I primarily work from the lens of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). I also incorporate other approaches, such as Compassion Focused Therapy, Internal Family Systems, and mindfulness, based on the needs of each individual. I am also trained in trauma, grief, and crisis, with a special interest in adoption trauma. I am LGBTQIA+ affirming.
